The year ahead

Last week the focus was on looking backward. This week, we’re looking towards the future.

  1. My number one writing goal this year is to edit my NaNoWriMo novel. I find the 43 Things website helps keep me motivated for goals generally, not just writing.

What about you, Tash? What are your goals and suggestions?

  2. I’m going to try put the 101 things in 1001 days idea, and so set goals for 2.75 years rather than one…

That said, things I want to complete over the next year include:
    - Finishing the draft of the WIP and editing it to publication standard.
    - Writing at least 2 short stories and submitting them to anthologies.
    - Writing at least 12 short travel pieces.

And keep up the reading - at least 100 books a year.

Good luck with the editing, and best wishes for 2008!
    Tash

  3. Have done a kind of combined post on the last two ‘writing about writing’ topics at my personal website on my personal website here:

  4. One more link.

On the LifeHacker blog there is a post with six web apps to help you keep your new year’s resolutions.

  5. Here’s to achieving your goals in 2008!

    I blogged about mine here:

  6. I’m focusing on just ONE goal this year. Inside that larger goal are many smaller goals but the primary goal is the only one that isn’t negotiable.

My primary goal is all about money.

This year my entire focus goes toward generating a full time income with my freelancing. At the moment I’d simply like to replace my current income ie. $20,000 a year but I’m actually aiming for $30,000 as a good number to hit.

I don’t know if I’ll accomplish this goal but by keeping this, and only this, in the forefront I know I’ll focus most of my daily, weekly, and monthly objectives towards this outcome. Every project I take on is weighed toward the goal, if it will help me accomplish the goal or hinder my success.

    So far it’s working brilliantly!
